A Few Words of Appreciation

First and foremost to my wife Carla Martinez. Simply stated, she's been the most supportive and influential person in my life. Writing a book is a solitary endeavor, and I couldn't have accomplished it without her patience and kindness. She's an extraordinary woman and I'm fortunate to be her husband.

And to my parents, Paul Peterson, and Cindy Peterson, for being so supportive over the years. To my bothers as well, Daniel, Matthew, and James. You're good brothers!

Next, to my freelance editors. Ed Stackler and Laura Taylor. They're far more than just my editors, they're my friends. Both Ed and Laura have stood with me through thick and thin. They picked me up when I fell down, and kicked my butt when I slacked off. There's a lot of Ed and Laura in FIRST TO KILL and they have my heart felt thanks.

To Don D'Auria, Executive Editor at Dorchester Publishing for taking a chance with me. Thank you for being patient with this first time author.

To my agent, Jake Elwell, of Harold Ober Associates. Thank you for representing me with class and excellence.

Thanks to Douglas Reavie, MD, F.A.C.S. for his generous help with the post bombing triage scene.

A warm thank you to Trisha Maas and Gabriel Porras for doing an outstanding job on this web site. Great job, team!

I'd also like to thank the following directors (and their staff) of my favorite writing conferences. Mr. John Tullius of the Maui Writers Conference. Ms. Marcia Meier of the Santa Barbara Writers Conference. Ms. Gayle Lynds of International Thriller Writers. And to Mr. Michael Steven Gregory of the Southern California Writers Conferences. I've enjoyed your programs immensely, learning a staggering amount of valuable information on writing, editing, and marketing.

And of course, a very special thank you to Bill Thompson, who was the first to believe in me as an author. Hey Bill, are we there yet?
